Internationally, there is a call for board diversity to avoid group-think and to respond to stakeholder concerns. There is no doubt that women on board is an important aspect of overall make-up of a diverse board. In the context, measured gender considerations are required by business to address the gender imbalance - as part of the overall considerations relating to board diversity. This seminar brings together gender leaders and champions to share learnings on and represents a collaboration between The Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries (HKICS), the Thought Leadership Committee of The Chartered Governance Institute (CGI) and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP
This seminar is to launch a joint KPMG/CLP/HKICS ESG report. In August 2019, 181 CEOs came together and stated that business needs to address stakeholders’ concerns. Also, HKEX is requiring a mandatory disclosure requirement (MDR) of board consideration of ESG issues. All these point to the need to integrate ESG concerns into business strategy – which is the purpose of the step-by-step report.
