CGI Global has submitted a letter to the ASX Advisory Group on Corporate Governance, in response to its consultation on the draft 5th Edition of the ASX Corporate Governance Principles and Recommendations (P&R). The Advisory Group has sought to evolve the P&R, by retaining the eight core principles while simplifying and modernising the existing framework.
The Recommendation relating to the Company Secretary has been retained and elevated as a foundational matter for good governance. CGI’s submission includes that this should be strengthened to refer to professional qualifications, to align the P&R more closely with recent code amendments in other markets. This recognises the importance of the Company Secretary’s role as a strategic governance adviser.
