London, Tuesday 19 May 2026. The Chartered Governance Institute (CGI) is proud to announce the election of Gill Meller FCG HKFCG (PE) as the President of The Chartered Governance Institute (CGI). Ms Meller will succeed the incumbent President, John Heaton, commencing on 1 July 2026.
Ms Meller has been an influential leader of the Hong Kong/China Division, serving as a member of the HKCGI Council for over six years (2016 to 2023), including two years as President from 2020 to 2021. A highly regarded figure in Hong Kong’s corporate and legal landscape, Ms Meller currently serves as the Legal & Governance Director at MTR Corporation Limited.
In response to the election, Ms Meller remarked, “It is a profound honour to be elected as CGI President. I am eager to engage with our global members and stakeholders, working together to elevate governance standards and advocate for the critical role governance professionals play in ensuring transparency and accountability in organisations worldwide.”
CGI also confirmed the election of two Vice Presidents being Dr Denis Mowbray FCG FGNZ, who extends his term as Vice President for a second tenure; and Datuk Suseela Menon FCG (CS, CGP) who serves as Vice President for the first time.
A Fellow of the New Zealand CGI Division, Dr Mowbray remarked: “I look forward to working with Gill and Datuk Suseela in strengthening the position, accountability, and depth of the global governance profession. Especially as we operate within a dynamic environment, shaped by geopolitical volatility, economic uncertainty, and pressing environmental challenges. Together, I am confident we will continue to advance CGI-Global’s mission in service of governance practitioners worldwide.”
Datuk Suseela Menon is a Past President of the Malaysian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (MAICSA) where she served as the President from October 2020 to June 2022. On being elected, Datuk Suseela remarked: “Stepping into the role of Global Vice President is a profound honour for MAICSA. Together with Gill and Denis, I look forward to championing the vital role of governance professionals, supporting our global membership, elevating governance standards, and reinforcing the importance of accountability, resilience, and sustainable value creation worldwide.”
